I’m heartened to learn these great techniques…this watercolor month challenge has just swamped me into a corner. This feather tutorial is just what I needed…❤
You’re right, leaves are relaxing. I loved the different varieties you chose to do.
It is an epidemic. My kids are estranged too💀
Thank you for another relaxing painting time 🙂When you added the red to the mauve (purple-ish) flowers it reminded me of the Red Hat Ladies here in America. Groups of women gathered for lunch or brunch wearing their red and purple outfits with the huge red hats. Hence the name... Of course that was a thing several years ago. Some of those watching your channel may have to look that up! Interesting what comes to my mind when I see certain colors combined. Lol Many blessings to you!
i liked the transparency that was lost with the pen work
Kitty has a lot to say! So cute!
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing! I watch Danny and his art work also!
At first, I got these Russian watercolors from my art class, then, I wanted to just get comfortable mixing on the palette, so I did what you are doing, things got muddy, so such joy just with primary colors! Have yet to use the whole set of my white dinner plate for specific palettes. I store it between the books on my shelf, quite easy to grab. I keep my brushes next to my bed wuth my water in a jar. Fun, fun!
I’ve learned oodles from your videos! I’m from Baton Rouge, LA in the USA. Thank you! God bless you and please keep up the good work🤗🫠
Thanks Diane. Now onto Day 2!
WoW, Very Beautiful and Amazing Baby Deer, Thanks for your nice efforts.🙏🏼🙏🏼👌👌🤩🤩🌹🌹💯💯
How Lovely!!
Thank you
Diane, this is beautiful!
Excellent advice, thank you.
Loved these wreaths and garlands. Thanks!. 11:53 @dianeantonstudio Emil Nolde was a fantastic colorist -wrapped in controversy. In 1941 his art was tagged as "degenerate" and he was forbidden to paint. He retired Seebüll, on the German / Danish border. He named his work "invisible paintings" due to the prohibition. However he managed to get hold of watercolors through his friends as these were easy to transport (and to hide, if there was ever an inspection). HOWEVER, he was also a *literal* card carrying member of the Nazi party and a persuaded and very vocal anti semite. This formerly concealed part of his life came to light in 2019 as the Nolde Foundation, which handles his legacy and Museum, changed directors and opened its archives for researchers. I learnt this at an exhibition in Berlin, where I live, called Nolde: a German Legend, at the Neue Nationalgalerie. Yes, he was named as one of the "degenerate" artists but big Nazi officials were fans and consequently he survived what others did not. Nolde personally pleaded with Goebbels (an art fan) for support 😮 I am very conflicted about Emil Nolde because I really like his watercolour work. However his land-, seascapes and flowers are also anchored in his political views of what the "perfect" version of homeland or "fatherland" should be. I have a hard time combining his beautiful art and the extreme authoritatian world view and discriminatory opinions he supported. I am also disgusted that he reinvented himself as a victim of after the war. 😮 Anyway...this not what I usually comment, but thought you might appreciate some extra info about this artist. Last but not least, Diane, I am enjoying these long form videos. I leave them running while I journal and very often Inout my oen aside and start painting along. The wreath with hops, elderberries and mice was so cute and elaborate. Thanks a lot for putting these together.
Love the colors! Very pretty.
Beautiful! This is an amazing, most interesting piece of lovely art! You certainly could sell this!
Fascinating to watch you when you combine colours…that is something that I really need to know is how to mix different colours to make another colour!
My drawing really improved after I started watching Danny Gregory. I love the painting, and I use white plates as well, square ones from the Dollar Store, although they don't have much for a dollar anymore.
What a beautiful little fawn! My mum loved them, and had a small ceramic ornament of a fawn. Thank you for the painting and for bringing back a lovely memory.
Lovely painting Diane, the variety of colors with just two paint colors (not including the embellishments).
So beautiful! I would love to buy this from you! I am in USA.
I will list the painting on Etsy and if you would like to purchase it that’s the best way to do it. Thanks so much for your support!
@@DianeAntoneStudioThank you Diane Your paintings are so delicate and loose ! The combination of loose and pen work are just lovely! ❤
As always I love you and your art.
Thank you so much 😀
Another great video. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The dollars store has plates like this.
I’m glad this was explained like this. I really needed the color arrangement explanation, You would think it’s common sense, but actually it helps to see how the color arrangement works.
Glad it was helpful Sheila x
How funny! I have an Arther, I named him Art while he was a small kitten. He was so little when I got him and he had to live in the Art room until he was a bit bigger and he got use to the house and the dogs got use to him. 😻
Exactly the same as our Arthur, who lives in the studio!
There is a color called dragon’s blood by MaimeriBlu that I really like. It’s about the color of dried blood
LOL!
I use a $1 store plate instead of sacrificing 1 of my dinner plates. It's more cost effective for me but sometimes it can be a pain bc the colors can run together and I hate when my colors touch or mix unless I want them to. Idk it's a me problem lol. Thanks for all of your videos they are greatly appreciated and I enjoy your stories and comments. It makes my day. Have a wonderful day!
The flat plate system is just one of many options, most of which I use depending on the need of a particular painting, my mood, the paints I’m using etc etc. It’s a matter of personal taste.
Hi Diane! Coincidentally, I recently got some ceramic plates for watercolor mixing, but you showed the best method of putting the paint on the edges of the plate and using the center to do the mixing. The pets keep you busy ... so do ours...Emily the Christmas kitty just got into my art supplies...good thing I emptied the water out of my jars when I cleaned up! 😐 Hope your sick kitty gets well soon!
Glad it was helpful! There are so many different ways of arranging paints aren’t there!
Top kewl❤
I enjoyed seeing how you used the plates with the paint on the perimeter and the mixing in the middle. I just recently started watching Sketchbook Skool. He is good. Thank you for sharing what's going on with your animals. I always love hearing the cockerels in the background.
Thanks so much for your support! Sometimes the cockerels can be a bit irritating especially if I have a headache!!
Bought a set of smaller plates that were used by an airline. Been using them for years. Once again you transformed a lovely palette of colors into a lovely loose painting. You are not afraid to keep adding lines both white ten black to follow your impulses or eye instincts…whatever you want to call it…you go for it because you enjoy the freedom to see what happens. Love that!!!❤
Thanks Connie for this kind comment! I hope you try the system out, it’s quite liberating really!
@@DianeAntoneStudio I have been painting with my little airline plates for 30 years. I don’t think I have ever totally cleaned off old paint but use it mixing it in with fresh squeezes from my tubes.
Love your style and I always get inspired to paint 🎉
Thank you so much 😀 I’m so glad!
Really pretty ❤
Lol, oh Diane, you are so funny. 😂 I love watching you paint your exploration pages. 'How to play with watercolor 101' it's so important to remember to do this and get to know your watercolors.❤

Love the whimsical look. Such fun. Thanks for the dinner plate idea!!
Thanks so much! 😊
Often, I forget to use the everyday things to create my art. Thank you for this and whoever brought it up. Lovely Painting, love the colors.
It’s a method I usually use when I’m on holiday and don’t have all my paraphernalia with me!
I’m a 56 yo Newbie. Virgin creator. I’ve been I’ll the past 4 years and just discovering the simplicity of life. I can do this where as before I never thought I’d be good at it. I hope you soon feel much better and continue to enjoy the videos we share xxx
Yes, I've been buying ceramic and porcelain dish ware of various sorts from discount stores (like TJ Maxx in the US) to use as mixing and painting palettes for years. Vintage shops and tag sales are also good sources.
Lol, I just bought a box of creme brulee because I liked the glass dishes they are in. ❤ I probably paid less for them than I would at the second-hand store.
That’s interesting. Here in France pâté is often sold in very nice earthenware dishes which are worth more than the food inside them!
Excellant tutorial. ❤
Thank you! 😊
I love these paintings like this. Keep them coming. Pam
Thank you! Will do!
Your poor flock, they are going through it. I hope they all make good recoveries 😁
Yes, everyone is fine now thanks!
Thanks for the demo and lesson on your palette, and above all, your talk about color mixing. TIhat subject has always mystified me . Now I am intent on trying it, many thanks to your skill and ability to explain things so well.
It’s always useful to see something in action, it’s the beauty of video, so glad you enjoyed it.
Lots of practical and creative ideas! And a beautiful painting!
Thanks so much Judit! 😊
Beautiful, even just leaves can be a very pretty picture! ❤
I think so too!
Thanks
Thanks so much for your generosity xxx
